Don't Let Your Wedding Date Be A Problem Later!

Avoid Wedding Dates That Will Be A Problem Later!

Most of the wedding articles you'll read will give advice on the most suitable wedding dates to have the best weather and the largest discounts. What they don't let you know you is what the WORST wedding dates are. Here are wedding dates you'll certainly want to steer clear of when planning.

Wedding Dates when your guests might rather be somewhere else:

New Year's and Christmas (Anywhere between the 23th of December and the 5th of January)

Thanksgiving (In US, the fourth Thursday of November. In Canada, the second Monday of the month.

Super Bowl weekend (February 7, 2010; February 6, 2011)

The World Series. (October 28-November 5, 2009)

In the US, the weekend before April 15 - tax day! Okay, probably no one would rather be doing taxes, but they might be a little stressed out!

Memorial Day weekend (May 31, 2010; May 30 2011)

Labor Day weekend (September 6, 2010; September 5, 2011)

While some wedding authorities say these both Labor Day and Memorial Day are good days to get married (as you'll likely find cheaper rates on venues and vendors, and your guest will have three days to travel), I find that wedding guests often have other plans for these weekends. It's also harder and more expensive to travel on those weekends.

Wedding dates that may bring bad luck to your marriage:

Weekend that includes a Friday the 13th

The Ides of March (March 15)

September 11th

Daylight savings days (since your guests may either arrive an hour early, or show up horribly late.)

If you are getting married in Minnesota take note of the weekends for the fishing opener and the beginning of hunting seasons! You may end up learning how to hunt and/or fish or spend your anniversaries alone

There are also a number of religious observances that you may wish to avoid depending on your beliefs. There are also dates that can be nearly fool-proof if you want your fiancĂ©' to remember your wedding date, such as Valentine’s Day...this, however could lead to just one box of chocolate or one bouquet of flowers!
