Naeve Cancer Care Center Receives Donation from The Silhouette

The Silhouette bridal store, in Easton, recently made a donation to Naeve Health Care Foundation. The approximately $1,200 donation will go to the Albert Lea Cancer Center. The Silhouette held a special “Treasure Your Chest” sale event in October with proceeds going toward the donation.

During the event, many customers found special treasures! The staff at The Silhouette would like to thank all of those who made the day a success with their generous donations.

My Perfect Wedding Gown-Not a Pair of Jeans!

Just because a bridal consultant takes your measurements, it does not mean you are getting a "Custom-Made" gown. Many a bride becomes dismayed when their wedding gown arrives at the store and they need to have it altered. There is a giant difference between "Special Order" and "Custom Made".

Most bridal stores offer Special Order gowns for their clientele because to have a gown custom made to your specific measurements is very expensive and is a huge undertaking. When a bridal consultant measures you for your wedding gown, she uses specific size charts, and, yes, the chart will indicate that you should order a size very different from your day to day clothing. Don't be alarmed! No two brides have the same body shape or type.

When a bridal consultant suggests a size for a specific style of gown, she is evaluating several factors. One is your figure proportions. Since it is generally better, and easier, to take in an area that is larger than to try to add in to an area that is lacking fabric, the bridal store associate will suggest a size that equates to the larger of the measurements. For instance, if your bust is larger in proportion to your waist and hips, the bridal store will order the size that corresponds to the bust measurement, and you will need alterations in the waist and possibly the hips.

Your gown may fit almost perfectly, but most will need a hem, a nip or tuck in a few places. Many brides also like to be able to have the train up off the floor for the reception and dance. This is called bustling which is a term used to define the gathering of fabric in the back under the waistline. This allows you, the bride, to navigate the reception and the dance with your hands free-and it makes it more difficult for the groom to step on your gown!

As a bride in southern Minnesota and one who shops at The Silhouette in Easton, you can rest assured that you will be fitted in the closest size for you to look your best. The alterationists are very experienced in altering wedding and formal gowns from brides to mother of the wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, and even the tuxedos. Sure, you could take your gown elsewhere to be altered, but remember this is not a pair of jeans that you just roll the hem up or add a cute piece of fabric. You are planning a perfect day, and we help is start off with a perfect fit.
